This is a project we think of as “deep dish”, which means we were able to work with architecture, interior design and art. It doesn’t always happen but when it does the results are magic and we think this house delivers. The family who lives here started collecting photography when they were first dating, and developed a habit of buying art for each other for occasions, and now their growing collection has become the main event. That said, they didn’t want their home to feel like a gallery. We took cues from house museums – the Nathaniel Russell House in Charleston and the Sir John Soane Museum in London – to give us confidence to mix pattern and color and art.
